Below are the program prices, the cash-pharmacy price, what Costco does and does not publish, and the plan terms that change what you really pay. All hair loss prices, including minoxidil and compounded sprays, are on our hair loss price page.
Cheapest finasteride online, ranked (October 2026)
Plain oral finasteride with the online visit included, cheapest monthly price first. Each figure is live from the program's own page; the plan terms are why the order is not the whole story.
- Keeps: $14 a month, billed every 3, 6 or 12 months. The price sits beside a struck-through one, so it may be a first-order figure.
- Ro: $16 a month on a 12-month plan that ships quarterly. Ro's quarterly plan costs more a month.
- GoodRx Care: $16 a month, from GoodRx's launch release; the final price depends on delivery cadence.
- Happy Head, Rex MD and Tuyo Health: $18, $18 and $18 a month. Happy Head needs a 6-month prepayment, Rex MD a 6-month order, and Tuyo serves only 20 states.
- Hims: $22 a month, billing terms not stated on the page we read.
The cheapest route of all is a prescription filled at a cash pharmacy, covered below. If you want a program for the first prescription and a pharmacy for refills, Ro says you can use your own pharmacy.
Finasteride a month, program by program
Every row is a plain oral finasteride plan, quoted on October 31, 2026. Combination products and topical sprays are left out; they are compounded and priced separately.

The drug on its own: Cost Plus Drugs and Costco
| Seller | Item | Price per tablet | Pack price | What is not included |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Cost Plus Drugs | Finasteride 1 mg, 30 tablets | $0.19 | $5.83 | Shipping per order; your own prescription |
| Costco Pharmacy | Finasteride 1 mg | Not published in a form we could read | Costco says non-members can use the pharmacy |
Cost Plus Drugs prices each drug at its manufacturing cost plus a fixed markup and a pharmacy fee, with shipping added at checkout. For a cheap generic, the shipping on a single 30-tablet order can cost as much as the tablets, so a larger fill brings the per-month cost down. We earn nothing from Cost Plus or Costco and do not rank them, because neither prescribes.
Costco's drug price lookup runs in the browser and we could not read a price from it, so we do not quote one. Reddit and forum posts quote low Costco prices for finasteride, but a forum post is not a price we can date or check. Ask your local Costco pharmacy for the cash price before you fill.
Why the program price is higher
A program bundles three things the cash pharmacy does not: the clinician who writes the prescription, automatic refills, and delivery. For many men the first prescription is the hard part. A sensible path is to get it from a program, then ask whether it will send refills to a pharmacy you choose. Ro says it can.
Plan terms that change the real price
- Prepayment. The lowest monthly figures at Keeps, Ro and Happy Head need a 3- to 12-month plan. Happy Head says standard, higher pricing applies if you cancel or pause.
- First-order discounts. Keeps shows its finasteride price beside a struck-through one, and its homepage table gives a different figure. Lemonaid discounts the first 3-month supply.
- Visit fees. Keeps charges a small annual consultation after the first free one. Lemonaid's hair loss consult fee is not on the page we read.
What finasteride is approved for
Oral finasteride tablets are FDA-approved for hair loss in men. The Propecia label says it "is indicated for the treatment of male pattern hair loss (androgenetic alopecia) in MEN ONLY" and adds: "PROPECIA is not indicated for use in women." (DailyMed: Propecia label)
The same label lists side effects reported after approval, including "sexual dysfunction that continued after discontinuation of treatment" and "depression, suicidal ideation and behavior". Read them with your prescriber before you start. We do not give doses.
Topical finasteride is a different product
Sprays, gels and solutions with finasteride are compounded. The FDA says: "Currently, there is no FDA-approved topical formulation of finasteride." It also reported that "There were 32 cases reported to the FDA Adverse Event Reporting System between 2019 and 2024." (FDA alert on compounded topical finasteride)
Topicals cost more than the oral tablet at every program that sells both, often two to three times as much. They are on our hair loss price page, labelled as compounded.
Questions
FAQ
How much does finasteride cost per month?
From $14 a month at an online program with the visit included (Keeps, on a multi-month plan), and about $0.19 a tablet at Cost Plus Drugs if you already have a prescription, before shipping. Most online programs charge between $16 and $25 a month for plain oral finasteride. Plan length and first-order discounts move the figure.
What is the cheapest finasteride online?
With the visit included, Keeps at $14 a month on a multi-month plan, then Ro at $16 on a 12-month plan, as checked October 31, 2026. With your own prescription, Cost Plus Drugs is cheaper still at about $0.19 a tablet before shipping. The live order is on [cheapest hair loss treatment](/cheapest/hair-loss).
What is the cheapest way to get finasteride?
Get a prescription, then fill it at a cash pharmacy such as Cost Plus Drugs. If you have no prescription, a program gets you one with the visit included; several will send it to a pharmacy you choose. The cheapest all-in programs are on our [finasteride price page](/cost/finasteride-price).
Is finasteride from Hims or Keeps the same as Propecia?
The oral finasteride tablets Hims and Keeps sell are FDA-approved generics of Propecia, the same drug at a lower price. The sprays, gels and combination pills those programs also sell are compounded and are not FDA-approved. Every plan on our hair loss price page is labelled one or the other.
Does insurance cover finasteride for hair loss?
Usually not. Medicare Part D excludes drugs used for hair growth, and Keeps says "our treatments are not covered under insurance" ([Keeps](https://www.keeps.com/our-products/finasteride)). The cash price of the generic is often below a typical copay. Our [finasteride insurance guide](/guides/finasteride-insurance) covers Medicare, Medicaid and private plans.
Does Costco sell finasteride without a membership?
Costco's pharmacy pages did not load for our reader, so we could not confirm its non-member terms or read a price. Forum posts quote low Costco prices for finasteride, but a forum post is not a price we can date. Call your local Costco pharmacy and ask for the cash price, with and without a membership.
Why do some programs charge more for the same tablet?
Plan length, first-order discounts and what is bundled. A 12-month plan is cheaper a month than a quarterly one at Ro, and Keeps shows a lower price beside a struck-through one. Some programs add a consult fee. Compare the billing column above, not only the headline number.
