Comparison
This guide ranks the programs on those two questions. Every program's full plan list, with the page we read each price on, is in its review and on our ED price page. Our overall ranking, which also weighs care, access and reputation, is on Best men's health programs.

A LegitScript seal ID is a number LegitScript itself serves for a domain. A logo image hosted on the program's own site is a claim only. LegitScript's public checker sits behind a captcha, so treat every row above as what the site shows, and check the program yourself at LegitScript's certification page before you pay.
Generic or compounded: the difference that matters most
Generic sildenafil and generic tadalafil are FDA-approved copies of Viagra and Cialis. Chews, mints, troches, gummies and multi-drug tablets are made by a compounding pharmacy for one patient at a time and have no FDA approval as a finished product.
The FDA said this plainly to one of the best-known ED brands in September 2025: "Compounded drug products are not FDA-approved." and "Your claims imply that your products are the same as an FDA-approved product when they are not." (FDA warning letter to Dermacare LLC dba BlueChew)
That does not make a compounded product unsafe by default, and a prescriber may choose one for a reason. It does mean nobody has shown the FDA that the specific chew or combination works and is made consistently. If you want the evidence behind the label, the FDA label for Viagra lists it as "indicated for the treatment of erectile dysfunction" (DailyMed: Viagra label), and generic sildenafil tablets are approved against that same standard.

Price per dose versus price per month
A low monthly price can mean four doses. A low per-dose price can sit on a pack you must buy every month. Look at both:
- Per dose tells you what one use costs. Strut's 90-day generic sildenafil plan works out to $1.60 a dose, consult and shipping included.
- Per month tells you what leaves your account. Ro's entry generic sildenafil plan is $32 a month for a set number of doses.
- Plan length is the third number. Several of the lowest prices need a 90-day supply or a plan paid upfront.
Our ED price page sorts every published per-dose price in one table, next to the monthly figure and what each price leaves out.
What the drug costs on its own
The program price pays for the online visit, the prescription and delivery. The pills themselves cost far less. With a prescription you already have, Cost Plus Drugs lists generic sildenafil 20 mg tablets at about $0.22 each before shipping (pack price $6.72), and we earn nothing from it.
A study presented in the Journal of Urology made the same point about telehealth pricing. Discussing sildenafil sold by direct-to-consumer pharmacies, the author said: "That was compared with 33 cents from Cost Plus Drug Company." (Urology Times interview on the study)
So the cheapest route is often a program for the first prescription, then a cash pharmacy for refills. Ro and Lemonaid both say they can send a prescription to a pharmacy you choose.
The safety record
Four programs on the list above have FDA warning letters on record. Three of them have nothing to do with ED: Strut's (February 2026), Maximus's (June 2026) and Hims's (September 2025) letters concern how they marketed compounded GLP-1 weight-loss drugs. BlueChew's September 2025 letter is about its compounded ED products. Each review links the letter on fda.gov.
Hims also faces a lawsuit filed on July 29, 2026 by the FTC, Utah and California. The complaint alleges unclear billing and cancellation and the sharing of health data with advertising platforms. The case is pending, and the claims are allegations (FTC press release).
How to pick
- Want an FDA-approved generic at the lowest all-in price? Start with Strut Health or GoodRx Care, then compare Ro's per-dose list.
- Already have a prescription? Price a cash pharmacy first; see the no-commission box on our ED price page.
- Want a chew or combination product? Know that it is compounded and not FDA-approved, and read the BlueChew letter above.
- Hate subscriptions? Check the cancellation cutoff in each review: it ranges from 24 to 48 hours before the next order.
Not sure which fits? The four-question quiz filters by product type, budget and billing.

Questions
FAQ
What is the best online ED treatment?
On our published score, Ro ranks highest overall at 9.2/10, and every program's score sits in our [ranking](/best). The best one for you depends on whether you want an FDA-approved generic or a compounded formula and whether you will take a 90-day supply. Every score's rules are on our [methodology page](/methodology).
What is the cheapest online ED medication?
The cheapest all-in plan we track is Strut Health at $16 a month. The lowest published per-dose price for generic sildenafil is $1.60 at Strut Health.
Is BlueChew the same as Viagra?
No. BlueChew's sublingual tablets and chewables are compounded and are not FDA-approved. The FDA's September 2025 letter objected to claims that implied they were the same as an FDA-approved product.
Do online ED programs include the doctor visit?
Most do. Lemonaid charges a one-time consult on top of its per-pill price, and Hone sells a membership on top of the medication. Our headline prices add every required fee we could find.
Is it legal to get ED pills online?
Yes, when a licensed clinician in your state prescribes them and a licensed pharmacy fills them. Sildenafil and tadalafil are prescription drugs, so a site that sells them without a prescription is a red flag. Our guide to [buying ED pills safely](/guides/is-buying-ed-pills-online-safe) explains how to check.
Do you earn money from these programs?
Not yet: this site has no approved affiliate links, so every button goes to the program's own site. When that changes, commission still plays no part in the score.
